How long have you been competing as a strongman? Five years.
How did you get started in the sport? A good friend, Orie Barnett (who promotes NAS contests in Xenia, Ohio) thought I would make a good strongman.
What accomplishment in the sport are you most proud of? Earning my 105k pro strongman card. Loading a 500 pound atlas stone!
What's the biggest goof/screw up/rookie mistake you've made in a contest? Not wearing the right shoes for a sled pull on an area floor. I couldn't get any traction and was sliding all over the place.
What is your favorite event? Atlas Stones!
What is your least favorite event? Wheel barrow medley
What is your best nugget of advice for a person new to the sport? Take in every little thing and every bit of info from everyone. Go watch shows, learn from them, and see what works for you. Every little second counts in this sport.
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do. Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
